Seven extended family members of Republican lawyer Adam Laxalt on Thursday endorsed his Democratic opponent in the Nevada Attorney General race.

In an endorsement in the Las Vegas Sun, members of the Laxalt family wrote that Democrat Ross Miller is the "most qualified candidate."

All of the individuals who signed the endorsement appear to be extended family members.

Adam Laxalt is the son of former Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) and Michelle Laxalt, the daughter of former Sen. Paul Laxalt (R-NV). Most members of the Domenici and Laxalt families did not learn that Adam was Domenici's son until about 30 years after Adam was born. Domenici was married to Nancy Domenici at the time of Adam's birth.

The Michelle Laxalt who endorsed Ross is not Adam's mother, according to reporter John Ralston. - TPM, 10/16/14

Here's the endorsement:

During our journey, we have found a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that best captures the essence of a core value that has guided us throughout our lives — the value of speaking up for what is right. He wrote, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

In the spirit of King’s words, then, we can no longer be silent as we seek to maintain the integrity of our home state of Nevada.

Therefore, we collectively speak up to support Ross Miller as the most qualified candidate to be our state’s attorney general.

It is our belief that Ross Miller’s documented history of pulling himself up by his own bootstraps and establishing a well-respected career in law and public service while still maintaining a strong sense of family and community constitute the critical characteristics needed for Nevada’s highest legal office. - Las Vegas Sun, 10/16/14

Little more info about Laxalt here:

Republican AG hopeful Adam Laxalt was described by his firm's evaluation committee as "a train wreck" who "doesn't even have the basic skill set," according to a review of his performance two years ago.

The assessment by the Lewis & Roca Associate Evaluation and Compensation Committee (AECC) suggested that Laxalt attend seminars to "address basic legal principles" because of his "horrible reviews" and because he "has judgment issues and doesn't seem to understand what to do."

The recommendation: A "freeze in salary, deferral, and possible termination."

The summary of the findings, which I have obtained, authenticated and posted below, is incredibly scathing and derogatory. The conclusion: "You need to work on the quality of your work. You need to work on your legal writing skills." - Ralston Reports, 8/20/14
