PA-13: Daylin Leach (D) Introduces Bill To Raise PA Minimum Wage To $12

A short one but a very sweet one.  State Senator Daylin Leach (D. PA-13) wants to help end the "tipped minimum wage" in Pennsylvania:

The proposal by Senator Mike Stack (D-Philadelphia) and Senator Daylin Leach (D-Delaware/Montgomery) would also raise the state's overall minimum wage to $12 an hour.

Leach called the tipped minimum wage an "archaic and overly generous allowance" for business owners at the expense of low-wage workers.

"Still, it's not good enough for big restaurant chains who pile up thousands of wage law violations for not even paying the reduced wage," he said in a news release. "It's time to end this game."

Pennsylvania law allows for a tip credit that permits employers to use tips against all but $2.83 of the current $7.25 minimum wage. - ABC 27, 3/13/14
