Have you ever been around a dog that you really didn't like? I'm not talking about your dog and certainly not about my dog - a three year old weimaraner that would never stand for comparisons to the GOP's lunatic fringe. No, I'm talking about that poorly trained dog of your friend who doesn't have the time to fix clear and obnoxious behavioral deficiencies.
When someone comes to the door, that dog barks incessantly. When you respond and let that person in, the dog keeps barking, ideally to let you know that someone is in the house. As you're now having a conversation with that person, the dog keeps barking. He's saying:
DON'T YOU SEE THAT THERE'S A F-ING PERSON IN THE HOUSE, YOU IDIOT? THERE IS A BIG, SCARY, THREATENING PERSON AND I'M TRYING TO WARN YOU. WHY AREN'T YOU DOING ANYTHING; THERE IS A PERSON IN THE LIVING ROOM.The dog looks at you all bewildered. He's confused that you won't do anything. He thinks you must be stupid, or that you don't understand him, or something. He keeps barking, hoping that if he gets a bit louder and a bit more obnoxious, you might actually do something. In the end, you just pat him on his head and comment to your friend about how funny it is that dogs don't understand human interaction.
Well that's a huge part of what today's GOP does. The lunatic fringe - those voters so blinded by sadistic, race-driven hate - is screaming its head off, thinking that you just don't understand. Their message for voters:
DON'T YOU SEE THAT THERE IS A BLACK MUSLIM IN THE WHITE HOUSE, YOU IDIOT? THERE'S A BIG, SCARY NEGRO WHO HAS POWER AND I'M TRYING TO WARN YOU! WHY THE HELL AREN'T YOU DOING SOMETHING?! THERE IS A BLACK PERSON LIVING IN THE WHITE HOUSE!The only difference is that we look at the GOP afterward not with amusement, but with rightful indignation. They share the same fundamental lack of understanding of human motivation and mindset. Just like a boisterous dog, this portion of the GOP just can't seem to understand why everyone doesn't see that intruder from the lens of their own fear-filled eyes. And like a dog, they think it must just be a problem with you. They think that maybe if they keep barking loud enough, you'll realize what you've done.
And like this kind of dog, these people need to be stashed safely away in their crate until they've been trained on how to properly interact with human beings.
