Senator Schatz has governed as a true Democrat since day one in the U.S. Senate, putting middle class families before ballooning corporate profits.
That's why he's supporting legislation to increase Social Security benefits and extend funding for the program by making millionaires and billionaires pay in at the same rate as everyone else.
Putting cuts to Social Security on the bargaining table? No way.
Senator Schatz's challenger, on the other hand, voted in support of the Simpson-Bowles plan that recommended cuts to Social Security.
More Democrats are starting to follow Senator Schatz's lead, but we need to prove that working to reduce income inequality is more than good policy. We also have to show that people-powered politics is a winning strategy for Democrats.
