But wait, that's not the only stupid thing he said this week:State Sen. Chris McDaniel (R-MS) defended the Sons of Confederate Veterans, an organization whose events he has attended, as singly focused on historical appreciation and not "racist.""We're talking about an organization that our governor is a member of, that in the past that our senators have been members of, that many members of our House and Senate are members of," McDaniel said in an interview with The Weekly Standard published on Friday. "It's not a racist organization. It's a historical organization filled with reenactors and collectors. That's all it is."
In October Mother Jones reported that McDaniel addressed a neo-Confederate event sponsored by a local chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Jones County Rosin Heels. That group described the event as a "Southern Heritage Conference" for "politically incorrect folks."
The Weekly Standard noted that Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS), who McDaniel is hoping to unseat, has also said complimentary things about Confederate veterans and has a picture of former Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis in his office. - TPM, 4/11/14

But wait, there's more:McDaniel, while riffing on a shock jock radio program in late 2006 or early 2007, compared rapper Vanilla Ice to a minstrel show performer and pondering when it's appropriate to refer to a woman as "Mamacita." The Wall Street Journal was able to obtain a clip of McDaniel making the remarks.
In the radio segment McDaniel:
• Complained about criticism of an ad showing a white woman holding down a black woman: "Speaking of race. Here's a heckuva story on race…There’s a white woman, and she’s holding down a black woman. The world’s gone nuts. Listen to this. Minority groups in California screaming that the image is racist. ‘San Francisco politician Tom LeLand says ‘It’s racially charged, unnecessary and clearly offensive to our community.’ Well, she wasn’t holding down a gay guy. She was holding down a —a…anyway."
• Vowed not to pay taxes if they increased because of reparations. "If they pass reparations, and my taxes are going up, I ain’t paying taxes. Isn't that sad? And believe me I have the greatest respect for the IRS. I fear the I-R-S. Fear! Fear. How you gonna make me pay for something that I had nothing to do with? How you gonna do that to me? I don't get it."
• Linked Vanilla Ice to minstrel shows. "Now look, minstrel shows were very offensive because what you had was a white guy dressed as a black guy and acting black, kinda like Vanilla Ice did in the 80s. That's kinda what he was doing, except he didn't have the blackface on and if he had it on he woulda been in trouble. You don't want to do that. It's never good to make fun of somebody's race merely because of the race."
• Discussed when to refer to a woman as Mamacita. "Mamacita works. You say that at the wrong place and the wrong time you will get beat down. Mamacita. It's not a bad word. It's indicative. I think it basically means — I’m an English-speaking Anglo. I have no idea what it means, actually, but I’ve said it a few times, just for, you know, fun. And I think it basically means, ‘Hey, hot mama.’ Or, you know, ‘You’re a fine looking young thing. It's a Rolling Stones song is what it is." - TPM, 4/10/14
But wait, there's more:State Sen. Chris McDaniel, the Tea Party challenger to incumbent Sen. Thad Chochran (R-MS), can be heard railing against Libertarians during the radio show he hosted until his 2007 election to the state Senate. In the audio clip, McDaniel accused a Libertarian candidate believed to be Loretta Nall of using her breasts to promote her ultimately unsuccessful 2006 campaign for Mississippi governor, reported Buzzfeed.
Nall, who ran as a write-in candidate, sold campaign merchandise that showed her wearing a low-cut dress, along with the caption, “more of these boobs.”
“If that’s not the most typical Libertarian platform I don’t know what is,” McDaniel said of Nall’s racy merchandise. “The only thing that could probably make the campaign more Libertarian is a heroin needle in her arm.”
McDaniel continued his riff by saying Libertarians – a group he’ll likely need to win over to unseat Chocran in the Republican primary — promoted immorality and chaos, citing Amsterdam as an example.
“We all agree smaller government is better government — more freedom, more liberty,” he said on the program, recorded in either 2005 or 2006. “But do you really want to buy cocaine at your Junior Food Mart? Do you really want to go to the 7-Eleven, right next to the chicken on a stick, and see some crack? Is that really what we’re looking for here with the Libertarian Party?”
He continued, saying the person working behind the counter would likely be a prostitute.
“Any 7-Eleven you can probably get a dual discount,” McDaniel said. “Maybe if you get a hooker and some crack maybe they’ll give you discount on that. That’s the idea of libertarianism.” - Raw Story, 4/11/14

Yep, this is the 2014 Tea Party ladies and gentlemen. They may not be able to beat a lot of incumbent Republicans this year, but their voters and backers still yield a big influence on the GOP and they're having establishment Republicans like Cochran fighting hard for re-election:Nall, The Associated Press reported in 2006, sold campaign gear showing her smiling in a "low cut dress" with text that read "more of these boobs."
"It's so interesting to see this woman, basically using her boobies —I shouldn't have said that— to using her breasts to run for office," McDaniel said on the show. "If that's not the most typical Libertarian platform I don't know what is. The only thing that could probably make the campaign more Libertarian is a heroin needle in her arm."
McDaniel's past has been a trending part of the Mississippi Senate race over the last few days. The Wall Street Journal on Thursday highlighted other audio of McDaniel on his radio show vowing not to pay taxes if they increased due reparations over slavery. He also mocked complaints of racism on an ad that showed a white woman holding down a black woman. TPM has highlighted in the past that McDaniel has delivered the keynote address at at least one neo-Confederate event in June 2013. TPM also reported that McDaniel recently backed out of a pro-Second Amendment rally and music festival after attention fell on one of the vendors there, who sold Confederate memorabilia and has advocated for racial segregation.
On his radio show McDaniel also said liberals want to remove "the Christian influence" that has dominated American society and make it easier to kill unborn children by keeping abortion accessible.
"They want to make it easier to kill the unborn. Liberals, also, as part of that social agenda want to continue to rid our society of that Christian influence that has been so dominant her for the past 230-plus years … they want to pass new hate crime laws for homosexuals. Whatever you can imagine, I can give you the parade of horribles coming," McDaniel said. - TPM, 4/10/14
Well it's highly debatable if Cochran never embarrassed Mississippi.Cochran's campaign spokesman, Jordan Russell, told AP in a separate interview Friday that McDaniel's remarks were "embarrassing." Russell said the Cochran campaign did not give the information about McDaniel's radio show to the newspaper."We don't know a lot about Chris McDaniel, and every time we find out something new about him, it turns out to be troubling," Russell said.
An anonymously written political blog, Dark Horse Mississippi, posted audio clips from McDaniel's former radio show earlier this year.
McDaniel said it is fair for people to listen to what he said on the radio and read what he has written about government, including his belief that Cochran helped increase the federal debt.
"Senator Cochran and I both need to be focusing on the issues that affect everyday Mississippians," McDaniel said.
Russell said behavior matters and Cochran "never embarrassed Mississippi." - AP, 4/11/14
